Wordpress for small website & personal blogs is also frequently used besides MODX CMS. It is not like in the modx templates when you can not select different view per any page. There is just one theme to select per all site. This project to integrate HTML into WP theme was just to create the theme with it's files and then upload theme package via WP admin panel. Once the theme was created 100% and uploaded the final step was to select and enable new theme (http://rohd.phpcmsmodx.info). Very easy but not so interesting and fun like playground with templates in MODX CMS dashboard area. In MODX CMS it's possible to create as many templates as needed. For example, it is possible to create a different view template per each document - MODX content resource which is quite more flexible per any website.
