Wordpress for small website & personal blogs is also frequently used besides MODX CMS. It is not like in the modx templates when you can not select different view per any page. There is just one theme to select per all site. This project to integrate HTML into WP theme was just to create the theme with it's files and then upload theme package via WP admin panel. Very easy but not so interesting and fun like playground with templates in MODX CMS dashboard area. In MODX CMS it's possible to create as many templates as needed.
