Web-based application is most preferred as the users can access it from any point of the world or just a warehouse. This app can be hosted on *nix website (linux server) or even on a win* paltform with LAMP server tools (php, mysql, apache). The inventory scan app accessible via webuser's browser is very simple to use. There are 2 types of this application:
1) Only warehouse members can access it for pick-n-pack the client's orders . This type of app is as simple as just scan each item with barcode scanner. Each scanned barcode is then passed to the web-based application via HTML barcode input form. The app will automatically fill pick list per order. Thus the application allows your business to:
- 1.1) Eliminate picking errors – only correct item with it's barcode will be scanned OK to the pick list
- 1.2) Eliminate routine quantity checks – each scan of the same item will mean that another item of the same product is picked and packed (also known as pick-n-pack process).
2) Anyone can access the application and input the order details to the system and thus form the pick list to pick the needed number of items themselves from the warehouse (like in Ikea for example). The system allows the client to generate, print and then save (export) both the kit list (csv, pdf) and the pick list (csv, pdf) as csv and pdf file. Test this process and read the description here.
